Advanced Wreck Sidemount
Program Content
The Advanced Wreck Sidemount course gives the student the tools and understanding to help conduct safer Sidemount dives within the overhead environment. A number of topics will be covered during the program. There will be focus on buoyancy control, equipment configuration, equipment streamlining and awareness, proper fining techniques, dangers in the overhead environment and placement of stage cylinders.
The diving portion of the program will entail 12 dives over a number of days. The first set of dives consists of confined-water skills work-up dives. These dives establish the students' buoyancy, trim, configuration and comfort of their equipment, as well as completing a number of timed task-loading skills and a number of team-building exercises.
The remaining dives will take place on one or more of BC's artificial reefs. Thanks to the Artificial Reef Society of British Columbia, there are several large artificial reefs in relatively close proximity, allowing us to offer our students a wider range of experiences and challenges during our program.
