Sidemount
Program Content
Sidemount configuration has been a choice for advanced cave divers for years, but now it is popular for many types of divers. Sidemount has simply become a well polished approach to gear configuration. It employs innovation and discipline to produce an arrangement of scuba unlike any the typical diver is accustomed to. Our Sidemount program is about meeting those needs. In many cases, back mounted primary tanks are not ideal and other options need to be looked at. Sidemount configuration is used simply because it is a more comfortable way of diving. When used in the overhead (wreck/cave) environment Sidemount is by far the ideal configuration.
Sidemount Diving is quickly gaining popularity as an alternate method of gas management. Instead of carrying a redundant primary air source on the back, Sidemount utilizes the versatility to split the typical twin cylinders and relocate them under each arm. The low vertical profile of the diver's air supply allows the scuba cylinders to be easily manipulated, and carried in a less cumbersome manner. The diving portion of the program will entail 6 dives over a number of days. These dives help the student establish buoyancy, trim, configuration and comfort of their equipment. This will lead to the student’s second set of dives. This session is aimed at helping to achieve proficiency in completing a number of timed task-loading skills.
