Technical Diver Level 2
Program Content
As your motivation to explore progresses, you will find that you may want to explore farther or go deeper. Two of the major limiting factors of going deeper are narcosis and oxygen. Our Technical Diver Level 2 course helps the student to minimize the effects of narcosis and oxygen toxicity by introducing helium to offset the nitrogen in your breathing gas. The course will teach you how to plan and execute dives utilizing as little as 18 percent oxygen and diving to maximum depth of 60 m/200 feet with a blend of helium appropriate for the planned depth. The classroom portion of the course has three academic sessions of approximately 4 hours each. Specific topics covered include light helium (He)-based dive planning, operational planning for multi-stage tank management, greater oxygen exposure as well as a number of standard operating procedures for various in water equipment failures.
The second half of the program will entail 10 dives over five days. During these dives, students will build on the theory from their class sessions, with a large focus on problem solving. The students will learn to use multiple stages during decompression. The depths of the dives will require increasingly long decompression profiles.
