Advanced Trimix Diver Program

Program Content

The Advanced Trimix Diver program has been designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the risks associated with deep mixed-gas diving. In doing so, we believe that this helps our students become more informed, and safer, deep Trimix divers.

The classroom portion of the course has three academic sessions of approximately 4 hours each. Specific topics covered include advanced helium (He)-based dive planning, operational planning for multi-stage tank management, working with safety divers, extended oxygen exposure, advanced multi-stage gas management, as well as a number of standard operating procedures for various in-water failures.

The second, or practical, half of the program will entail 8 dives over 4 days. During these dives, students will build on the theory from their class sessions. A large focus will be on in-water timed (equipment failures) problem solving. The students will be exposed to a number of different gas mixtures, both as bottom gas and in multiple stages during decompression. Students will learn to complete a range of skills, and will have to demonstrate competence and comfort in water.

The Advanced Trimix Diver program will enable students to expand and sharpen their skills while helping them to build confidence. Learning is the primary goal during our courses; each student will be debriefed after each practical session. This gives our students the opportunity to fine tune their skills while the dive is fresh in their minds.
